I know this is not strictly technology news, but still, I felt like sharing this…

I was watching the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics 2008, and I was impressed. Never in history do I think has there ever been such a massive effort of synchrony by so many humans.

The theme was amazing too: from ancient culture to the modern era; the whole show being carried out on a gigantic scroll replica like a story.

And it is not all just humans - think about the cost, and the technology involved in doing all that too. Steven Spielberg must be ruing his chance at missing this, even he cannot ever had so much willpower and money placed at his disposal for something lasting about an hour. And the fireworks…

But the Chinese have every reason to be proud. They have pulled off what is (probably) the greatest live show ever (that is something other than a concert). They are saying in bold letters, “Here we are!”.
